We discussed subjective vs. objective writing:
Theme discussion: students examined themes of (1) appearances, (2) principles, and (3) power in "A&P." We decided to follow up with the themes of appearances and society & class for our next activity. We will be compiling evidence--especially quotations from the story--to show how the themes develop.
Homework:
Read or re-read "appearances" and "society & class" articles.

- A subjective question has multiple right answers; it depends on the writer's opinion.
Similarly, subjective writing is based on opinion. - An objective question has one right answer; it does NOT depend on opinion. "What is 2+2?" is an objective question.
